Duty-bound

By god, I feel pathetically depressed as I kill a character in my story. I wish I should not, but then the plot extracts that out of me, ruthlessly and professionally.

Behind my characters stand souls full of feelings and dreams. They show promise to live and flourish before they fall victim to the inscrutable stratagem of my pen. I tend to use them as instruments to carry just a message or two, as I find no other way to deliver. I cry and I bid them adieu.

Even I feel bad as I pen a love affair that goes sour and unrequited. My sympathy goes with the character that gets less than it is capable of getting. A session of heart-to-heart talk or a night of warm cuddle is sufficient to turn the sour relationship into warm and thriving. I know that, but do not bring them together and allow the relationship to ruin in front of my eyes. I cry as the lovers part company for good.

How should God be feeling as he predetermines death of a good person? How pathetic could be his feeling as he designs a few blind characters to stumble on the earth? Is He not the best creator in the universe with deepest possible attachment for the objects of his creation? Oh, He must be crying…like I end up doing with every death I cause in my creative domain. It appears He is duty-bound. Yes, He is God and he feels duty-bound.
